For those who don't know, Betelgeuse is 3️⃣ a red supergiant star that's part of the Orion constellation. It's 640 light-years away, which means that if it were 3️⃣ to explode, we wouldn't even know it happened until 640 years from now. When it explodes, it'll turn into a 3️⃣ supernova, which is essentially just a giant glowing ball in the sky. There are a lot of theories out there 3️⃣ about if/when Betelgeuse will explode, but just because it's old and running out of fuel doesn't mean it'll explode anytime 3️⃣ soon.
