It competes in the Campeonato Brasileiro S茅rie C, the third tier of Brazilian football, as well as in the Campeonato 鉂わ笍 Ga煤cho, the top flight of the Rio Grande do Sul state football league.

S茫o Jos茅 was founded in 鉂わ笍 1913, when, among conversations and soccer games during class breaks at S茫o Jos茅 High School, a group of students decided 鉂わ笍 to leave the school fields to face big teams in the professional fields.
