In a statement to Kotaku responding to the SWT team's open letter, Nintendo said, Unfortunately after 💸 continuous conversations with Smash World Tour, and after giving the same deep consideration we apply to any potential partner, we 💸 were unable to come to an agreement with SWT for a full circuit in 2024. On November 29, 2024, less 💸 than two weeks before the 2024 Smash World Championships, SWT organizers announced the abrupt cancellation of both the 2024 Championships 💸 and the 2024 Smash World Tour, claiming to have been forced to shut down both by Super Smash Bros. publisher 💸 Nintendo. |
